I'm having serious trouble recording with my Juli@ card and Sonar 3 (producer's edit): I keep having audio dropouts everytime I record for more than a couple of minutes or so...
I mean, it is very hard to record at a single stretch for a couple of minutes without having the audio dropout and stop the recording, so I have to end up recording everything in multiple bits since the recording stops, and I'm almost sure it is the hard disk the one with the issue.
any ideas? why does it do this? is it overloaded or not able to record and it stops due to this?

Does your computer have one or two hard drives? If only one, how much space is available on it? Have you checked to see if it needs to be defragmented? |

well, I've only got one, it's 160gb and it's got 66gb free.
I've recently defragmented it (though I know that this may be cause of disk dropouts when recording). but it seems the whole machine itself cannot cope with the process of playing back and recording simultaneously.
it's a 1.8 core 2duo intel processor, with 2gb RAM. I find it hard to work this way...
any other ideas??
ps: thanx jonyoung for the assist |

Any thing running, programs, virus software while this is going on?
Anything in the cd drive? What about drivers for this card...need updating?
OS need updating?
Maybe it has been tweaked out so far that it needs to be re-installed to get back to the basics? |
