wireless headphone sets

Hey all, im gonna buy a headphone set for recording, monitoring and a bit of mixing,
because we are on the road mostly and dont have monitor speakers.
And being a muso with little to spend....lol
I was listening to some wireless heaphones the other day and thought
it would save any wire being tugged at from time to time, think thats what
f..ked the last decent set we had.
Can someone enlighten me on the pros and cons of going wireless headpphone . Nobody here in the UAE shops have any technical
knowledge whatsoever , and Im lacking meself to be honest, but Ive
found this forum and its the Bees Knees ,
The sets i was looking at are AKG, does wireless narrow freq range ?
What are the best makes ,price, then Ill work back from there .....lol

Firstly, I read "f..ked" as a typo-ed "K Fed"... That had me laughing.

Anyways, yeah. Wireless headphones are great when you can't be tied down to a rope and you need a mobile-monitor.

They are not for mixing though.
But hey, if you can't tell the difference.

I have a set of radioshack wireless headphones that I have used for monitors on tracking things. Those dont provide very much isolation so they ended up being a bad choice on something loud like drums. I'm sure that if you got a closed ear set they would be fairly convienent for tracking. I would not use the ones I have for anything again but they dont sound to bad while tracking.

Yeah, the acoustic dynamic range of wireless headphones is usually pretty poor, and they hiss, but they do have their uses. I have a pair of the original Goodmans (long since discontinued and replaced in the range by rubbish ones), whose frequency response and acoustic isolation are surprisingly good. I sometimes use them driven from the mixer station while adjusting microphone positions on stage for instruments like acoustic guitar and harp (strung not blown).

THanx for the responses guys , I think Ill stick to the rope for
now , had a pair of closed m-audio studiofile Q 40 that seemed to have a nice
flat response and clarity, Ill look around for them again.
If anyone has some models they recommend , let me know
and I ll search for them to take a listen.
And I dont mind anyone taking the mickey here cause if we
read between the lines we get an insight into everyones
energies and baggage etc , I m getting older and try to
keep positive cause it doesnt pay to hang with the negatives of cynical responces , unless they are FUNLOvIN too.

I have a set of Sennheiser HD-220pro and set of HD-600s.

Covers all bases.

Oh yeah, I like Sens.

I am now using Sennheiser HD280 pro's and they are pretty good for the price. I do some mixing with them when my wife and kid are sleeping. I then reference back with my monitors after and usually dont have to make to many adjustments.

Don't. I'd either get the 280s or the HD25 (newer ones).

The 280s (I have a pair) are around $100: flat as you're going to get in this price range, awesome isolation...
(I was once wearing these, playing some dance music and sitting 60 feet from a pair of 300W speakers and a live band with drumkit. I totally failed to notice the drummer had let loose, everyone had gained 15dB and the recording gear was clipping).

Unless you want to get the HD25's (they cost about double the 280s but have better isolation and are probably flatter).
