I recorded 6 sets of a group over this weekend. It went well, everything recorded fine....but.... I did a rough mixdown for the band to go over to pick out songs to do a good mix on. All of the sets except one turned out pretty good. The odd set out is fast - like maybe a 44.1k being read as 48k (I did everything in 44.1 at either 16 or 24 bit - I noticed my bit rate was at 16 instead of 24 half way through the weekend). I didn't notice it during the mixing, so something must have happened either during the "audio mixdown" in Cubase, or in the transfer to my desktop (I mixed the second nights sets on my laptop and transfered over to burn to disc). I haven't had a chance to check my setup yet to see if there is anything obvious, and I didn't do anything differently that I know of during the processing.

Anyone have any good ideas of what might have happened? It was even a set I mixed and mixed down in the middle of the others. I'll check when I get home if I have time tonight and see if I can find the issue.

If it's faster and the pitch is higher, that's sample rate. It shouldn't matter whether it's 16 or 24-bit. Somewhere, at some point, you made a translation error. That should be correctable in most software's. Just wonder how you got there?? That's a good one.

My lips seem to be moving slower???

So.... the one on the laptop is fine and the one on the desktop is fast. Something must have happened during the transfer. Wierd - I just dragged and dropped from one to the other. And they both have all the same stats (585MB, 1411kbps, 16bit 44kHz etc)...

So. I tried just re sending the file from the lappy to the desk, and it was still fast. I had to redo the mixdown and then send it again, but then it was fine. At least it wasn't too hard to fix!
