Song: Fall Back
(See Me Leave is old and wretched)
This is a song I recently wrote. I'm really, really new at this, so I'm mostly trying to get down mic placement for vocals and acoustic guitar. But I really want any critiques on the mix and the song I can get.
Vocals: SM58.
Acoustic Guitar: SM58 at fret 11 and KSM27 (Shure, LDC) at base
Keys: Casio keyboard, line record from the audio out
Bass: SM58 on the amp and line record from the line out
Drums: Crap track through the Apple Logic piano roll
Audio interface: E-MU 0404 USB
I played everything and sang, so performance issues are my personal flaws.
Also, in your critiques, when you tell me what's wrong, could you also give suggestions on how to fix it? That's what I mostly need to know. Just trying to get good.
Thanks. |

You've done a better job with the 'limited' amount of gear that you have than many with much better equipment.
You're off to a great start man, sounds good.
I bet Jack Johnson and/or Dave Matthews would agree too. |

Nice piece.
I thought there was a bit to much energy in the SSSS sounds though, I'm not sure how to edit that, but in future a little off axis on the mic _may_ help. I'm probably wrong though. |

Gave it a listen. Sounds great for the equipment used. It was an enjoyable listen. |

Really?
I'm rather relieved that it's good for the equipment. That's all I've got, but I figure if I can do well with that, I'll be able to do well once I get better equipment (once I learn how to use it, of course).
Thanks, guys. |
