Hi all,
I'm just trying to do some basic recording at home, with a mic running from my laptop to my guitar amp. When i record though, I'm getting this swirling, hollow sound on the recordings.
Is there a way to get rid of it or prevent it?
Cheers
Bicko. |

sounds like mp3 compression, and an very short delay. 1ms?
Is that completely dry? It sounds almost like a flanger.
What is your exact setup from axe to disk? Any possible way that you have two recording devices selected? Or your computer audio somehow routed back the the recording input? (ie you have "record all" selected on your internal sound card and line in un muted) |

It's not the compression from the mp3, it has the swirl effect in WAV after its been recorded
I can assure you it is completely dry.
Okay the set up is: From my ACER Aspire 5720z I am running a mic from the mic input to my fender amp, which is connected to my Boss Me-50 effects pedal which is connected to my strat.
Cheers. |

Any USB devices connected? The only time I've heard that before it turned out to be interference from a USB device.
Can you hear this through headphones while your guitar is plugged in? |

The swirl part sounds like a short delay.

What type of microphone?
If you are serious about music recording at all, please do yourself a favor and get a real audio interface. The built in one will only lead to more head aches. Believe me, this is just the fist of many it will cause.
Can you fill in these blanks so that your situation is a little more clear to the folks on RO?
connections as follows:
1. Strat
2. 1/4 cable to Boss Me-50
3. 1/4 cable to Fender amp instrument input
4. (fill in microphone type) 1/8" mini cable?
5. ACER Aspire 5720z lap top internal sound card microphone port.
5. (fill in sound source. Vista: from right click on task bar speaker and select recoding device XP:double click, open mixer, select recording properties.) |
