Default RME DIGI96/8 PAD + expansionboard

    Hi,

Is it true that the expansionboards(input) only support samplerates up to 48kHz ? if so, what's the point of having a 24/96 card ?
In another thread something was mentioned about a stereo signal coming out of the output boards..is it possible to hook my monitors up with the outputs that are on the digi96/8 itself ?

Forgive my ignorance if these are stupid questions... :D

    Thanks,
    SNP

Well...is this for home use? If so do you "really need" 24/96? I dont think so....
If it's for professional use at that point you would be using just the optical interface!
    24bit yes....96Khz no...
For home use it's not that important to get that high quality sampling rate. You're not going to hear the difference. I think I should change my signature to "I mix for humans...not dogs!"

    Hey,

Thanks for the reply opus. It is indeed for home use so i guess it's ok to use 48 kHz. It's just the fact that it's capable of 24/96 and you're not using it. But I understand your point.

Could you (or anyone else) give an opinion about this system I am about to buy:
    P4 1.9 GHZ
    512 MB DDR-SDRAM
    IBM DESKSTAR 60 GB (partitioned)
    MATROX G550 32 MB
    PLEXTOR CD-RW
    ASUS P4B266
    MIDIMAN MIDISPORT 2x2
    ROLAND PC-180 keyboard
    ROLAND PMA-5 sequencer
RME DIGI96/8 PAD + analog input board...

This system will mainly be used for sampling (thru halion) and recording guitar tracks(electric + acoustic) and maybe some vocals.

    Thanks,
    SNP

Sounds like a slammin system to me...wonder where you found out about that Asus board...hmmm?!!! lol
Just one thought is about the 60GB drive...is that your OS and App drive? If so use it for audio data only and get yourself a smaller drive for the OS/App drive!
