Hi all,
Here we go again. If I wanted to have my own web page with mp3 files, playing back in Lo fi and Hi fi, what web space am I looking for, say I have 10 songs in mp3 format say at aprox' 5meg each, do I look for a web page that will give me 50 meg of space?? I am just looking into all this so please excuse my ignorance! Do you know of any good web hosters that will let me have mp3's on my own web page. What should I look for as regards to costing etc?
Many thanks,
Allan. |

With 50MB worth of music you'll need more than 50MB of hosting. You'll still need space for HTML, Flash, and all that fan mail you'll receive.
Another thing to look for in a host is "transfer" amount. If you have a fairly busy site with people downloading at a clip of 5MB per song, you'll need a fair transfer ceiling.
As for a reccomendation... I use Telaserv.
You can get 100MB of space with 5GB transfer for less than $10 a month (if you buy for a year it's 20% off as well). I have found them to be quite stable and very quick on the support end.
Hope this helps,
John Hughes
