Please comment on my mixing and song

I am trying to wrap up what is to be my first real song project. I would appreciate any mixing and song advise.

I got thru the first minute of your song, and here's my quick take:

Judging from the MP3 I thought the mix actually sounded pretty good, in terms of spaces and balances. However I could hear some pretty serious AutoTune artifacts on the lead vocal which is a real turnoff. I might suggest working with the singer a bit more on the performance, and minimizing or eliminating the AutoTune thing.

The real weakness wasn't the production though, it was the song IMO. Some of the rhymes sounded a bit trite/contrived. ("Sweat/bet" etc.) And the intro was too long. If you're gonna grab me off the 'net and expect me to listen to your song, you're gonna have to give me more than 8 bars worth of strummed guitar chords to sustain my interest. Cool title though.

Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong. Good luck! Smile

Hey,
I only got to hear the first 45 seconds or so, I get too impatient on my SLOOOOWWWW connection! However, I think your mix is pretty sweet! Better than an awful lot of stuff I am hearing out there.
