HI!
I`d like some opinions on this Funk Bot song:
www.traumakind.de/Webcard/mp3/hifi/TRAUMAKIND_diesertag.mp3
I recorded it in Cubase 5.1 on my laptop. All instruments, programming, songwriting etc. except for the actual singing was done by me.
I am looking especially for tips on the sound of the recording, how it cuts through, is it too bass heavy, not loud enough (I have a hard time really pushing the RMS, it hurts). I tried to make it sound as good as possible and give that dry Neptunes funk sound (twisted to my own taste, of course).
Thanks,
stefan |

Hi
Bass is ok, maybe some more sublows.
2:11 organ is a bit too loud
2:47 high synth is too loud
Overall I would push up the beats.
It sounds a bit too clean / crisp / digital
I think it needs some 'analog' type warmth
Background choir is really nice (especially the panning) (is this a plugin? I'm interested
I would also add some more low to the vocals when they sound a bit muffled / in the back.
Cheers
Feel free to be as honest as you can be on my stuff (a few posts down) |

Thanks G for the comments!
I wanted it to sound very digital, that`s why inserted all the thousands of glitches and noises. But maybe when I remaster it again I will try to use Magneto gently on the mix. Was the first time I did not use it. The high synth does take over a bit, you are right. I think I need to blend it more into the mix.
The background vocals are bassically two melodies that play with each other. I panned one far left, one far right, then used Waves Mondo Mod and Enigma on it.
I`ll check out your stuff,
Cheers,
Stefan |

Hi--
Sorry I'm not expert enough when it comes to passing out recording advice, but just from a listener perspective this is quite an interesting piece. Nice ideas going on. Keep on pushin'. |
