Hey all,
I just did a reformat/OS install on my system. I can't seem to get the midi controller to install properly. It is an M-Audio Radium 61, and I am running Windows ME (yeah, I know...) and pretty much haven't changed anything on my system this go around. I do remember having a bit of trouble installing the drivers for the controller when I bought the thing 6 mos ago, but as far as I can remember I got it going by manually installing the drivers when Windows wouldn't recognize it as New Hardware.
Well this time nothings working. I am almost at the point where I think there must be something wrong with the unit - it does work though, I plugged the midi out into my drum machine and it worked fine. But as far as doing anything with the computer I get zilch. I've tried out three different USB cables, and also tried those cables out with my printer to make sure they work.
Two other scenarios I can think of:
I have an older KT133 Via chipset based mother board, which has given me some instability problems, but for what I am using it for has still worked. I did install SLIGHTLY updated drivers this time around, but in reinstalling the older Asus drivers I have it seems they're not helping.
Also, I installed the Creative Soundblaster drivers for my old soundcard, which is still hooked up also, thinking that I had them running also back when I bought the Radium. I may be wrong though - and I can't see much of a conflict there anyway.
Any ideas? |

Make sure you have the via 4in1 drivers installed for your board. go to the manufacturer's site first and make sure they don't have a specific version of them for that mobo. If they do not then install the generic 4 in 1 drivers.
I have that same chipset and it is indeed the absolute worst chipset for audio. Shouldn't make a difference with the controller though.
M-audio drivers can sometimes be finicky about re-installing. With all the M-audio drivers I've used in the past you have to use their uninstaller before reinstalling them. I've had weird issues before with midi interfaces (M-audio), that chipset and their drivers when not reinstalling correctly. Make sure they don't have an uninstaller somewhere on their site.
If nothing else uninstall the drivers and reinstall the Radium using a different USB port.
Good luck! |

Well, I got it working throught the midi port on my Aardvark. The faders/pots don't seem to do anything now, but I think that was something I set up wonky in Logic. Would there be any more latency this way vs through the USB port? |
