"My purpose here is to help people, not to sell products. And especially since you're so far away I'm glad for you to build your own treatment. But my partner and I went to a lot of trouble and spent a lot of money to develop MiniTraps. So there's no way we'll just give away the design.
Even if you bought a MiniTrap and took it apart, you still wouldn't be able to duplicate its performance because it uses a special membrane material we have custom manufactured just for us."

please don't get me wrong Ethan i know u r here to help n u've been very helpful to me n everyone here. also i have no intention of taking ur minitraps apart. only thing i wanted to know was that the minitraps had that something more than a fiberglass wrapped in nice looking cloth so i can finally decide on the best solution to my room acoustics. i hope i cleared myself up Smile

Hmm... the link doesn't work. Can you try posting it again when you have time?

Thanks,

Hey guys, sorry about the downtime - our server is being transferred to a bigger, stateside one. The site should be up in a few more hours.

Thanks for your patience... Steve

Jackson,

It didn't sound like you were too likely to soffit mounting your speakers seeing that they were choice 3 out of 3 in your list. Here's one more reason not to do that.

Don't JBL LSR 28 P monitors have rear firing ports?

I think that's a no-no for soffit mount speakers.

You're right. I've abandoned that idea, and my rear-firing-ported monitors will stay on their stands. That's the first I've heard of rear-firing ports being a problem for soffit mounting, but then again I haven't investigated the technique very thoroughly yet. I won't doubt it for that reason.

Reading that soffiting is a bear to get right almost immediately turned me away from the idea.

Here's a working link to a studio with LSR 28p's soffited - read the comments, then PM sjoko from the homerecording bbs if you want more info. You may just change your mind back again if you do...

http://www.johnlsayers.com/Studio/Pages/Sjoko_3.htm

The Homerecording bbs is here -

http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/

you should be able to PM sjoko after joining the board - I think it would be worth your time to check it out further, but of course it's up to you... Steve

Thanks again, Steve. Right when I think I'm off it, I hear something good about how to soffit (hehe, ok that was bad).

I'll dig in when I have more time.

Sooo, it would be perfect if you had a very large shoe size - old saying;

You're a poet and don't know it - your feet show it - they're "Long fellows"... (hehehehehehe...)
