Greetings!

Welcome to the Budget Gear Forum!

After carefull thought and seeing that there is a strong demand that was not directly being addressed, we are starting a new forum here at R.O dedicated to the finance challaged folks that are on the hunt as well as wanting to discuss the topic of inexpensive recording gear.

Here we will have a place where we discuss low cost and down right cheap new or used recording hardware and budget gear that can still get the job done. This is intended specificly to recording hardware only please.

Thank you and I hope that you will enjoy yet another source of infomation that is available here at R.O.

Just one thing... As far as I know (with my limited English), "Home, Project Studio's" sounds a bit like, "project studio's home", like, the home belonging to the project studio. Would it be an idea to change that...? (I know this is a pretty silly suggestion, but anyway!)

Ellegaard, this forum is confusing. And I'm an Amurikan.

When one replies, there is an option for a 'Title' for the post, but it doesn't show up in the post.

Happy Holidays, AG!

This thread is right up my Alley. 'BUDGET' is such a lonely word.
And 'CHEAP' is wholly Inappropriate.

So........what's a Musician without a Girlfriend?

Welcome to R.O. and Happy Holidays to you also, Billy.

Budget as in low - or rather inexpensive. Cheap as in cheap price, cheap quality, cheap reliability, cheap sounding in tone.

hey! How's it going there?

Thanks for clearing up the meaning/definition of cheap. So, essentially it's pretty much open seaon on anything then?

Cool.....sometimes inexpensive does turn out to be crappola, as in 'CHEAP' as one dictionary definition would explain.

The Soundblaster Audigy comes to mind as a different interperatation of 'cheap' It's not all that inexpensive, but it's a boat anchor for a very small craft. Perhaps a quality fishing pole with suitable tensile cohesion and some yummy worms may give the audigy it's rightful place in the universe.

I'm concerned about Cubase SE. I am very suspicious, and would like to be reassured that my thinking is either erroneous, or dead-on accurate.

for 100 bucks, it simply sounds too good to be true.

Rest assured. As a guy who has used Cubase since it was just a MIDI seuencer, the $99 SE version offers tremedous power and value for your money.

I appreciate the feedback very much. I must confess, I have no use for MIDI. First of all, I never 'grasped' the concept.

And being an Egomanical person as I am, I would prefer to play synth drums without MIDI or quantizing, or any of that gimcrack stuff.

As I said, I want produce CDs with a 'what you hear is what you get' sort of quality.

The Beatles recorded their first LP in real time on an Ampex 2-track if I'm not mistaken. 'Please Please Me' I think it was.

Obviously, I do not have George Martin or the Abundance of Talent those guys had a 100 years ago.........

but, I still like it simple. what ya see etc........

I very much appreciate your positive feedback.

I shall give CubaseSE a try. Thanks

Bill

NEED HELP - START RECORDING AT HOME

I want to record and replay my songs (only voice) for improvement and am looking for a reasonable software/machine to do that.

Should not be too expensive.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

G'day all.

Great idea for a forum. Hi Audio Gaff, and thanks for the 'new' section. I will be posting at main recording.org, and this one as my studio spans both sides and has weak and strong links, expensive and 'cheap' sides.

I have a topic going half way down the forum re: my 16 track studio...any ideas to offer Audio Gaff and other .org users?

Would be appreciated. It's been there for some time Smile

Greetings and welcome to RO. I'll take a look at your question. I'm also the Pro Audio Mod and there are just far too many postings to get to them all. Many others besides myself though hang out around here and can be quite helpful.
