Presonus Eureka?

Looking for any Eureka users out there---------------Im expecting mine here shortly------------any suggetions about the unit,ideas,what to look out for------and so on.

Look at the thread below,....preamps under 500.00. There was a
bit of talk about it. For me, the output did not work well with my fixed +4 DAW input setting. Otherwise it sounded great and many others say so too.Some of the knobs rotated with runout like they were installed crooked & I didn't like the output level meter hammering to the right (peaking plus)when getting a proper level at +4.

I've commented in the other thread as well, but briefly, I tried it out and I did like it a lot. In its price range I think it's the best-sounding box of its type (at least of the ones I've heard). The output level was never an issue for me, but I don't feel the need to squeeze everything up into the last few available dB. I thought everything on it sounded good...nothing blew me away, but again, in comparison to the other stuff out there in that price range I though it was great...and to be fair, I was comparing it to channel strips costing three to five times as much. But I didn't think it sounded "bad" by any means. My only complaint was that the knobs are so close together...I didn't see any workmanship issues, but I'd like it to have been two rack spaces so the knobs could have been spaced farther apart and the labelling easier to read.

I too have been reading the thread where you commented on the Eureka,interesting info.
I just recieved the unit yesterday,didnt work with it too much,I listened to the unit through ear phones,like you said, I wasnt blown away by the unit either,but I was expecting that.
I plan on using the unit for vocals,just need to lay some tracks down and see if the unit works for me,Im sure it will,just have to find the time to do it.

I got one last sunday (4 days ago). Was a lot better than the mackie board. I went to the Texas Instruments site, and ordered (2) OPA134PA, (2) OPA627AP, and (2) OPA637AP to relpace the stock OPAMPs. I got them as samples for free, plus free overnight morning UPS delivery. Got them yesterday.

Put the Burr-Brown APA627AP's in (took about 3 minutes), HUGE difference. Much clearer, punchier, overall more rounded, clean sound.

The reason I bought this was to replace some bass tracks done earlier at a "Pro" studio by a since replaced band member. They originally were recorded (1) DI through a Focusrite ISA 428 and (1) mic'ed Ampeg amp, with some compression of some kind. I'll put my new tracks up against the old ones anyday!
