hiya ollie the only lady on yr forum here , lol can someone help me please Sad

.can anyone tell me why i keep getting too much tsssss on the singing on my recordings.it happens worse when i add a reverb.i have a samplitude recording studio with loads of plugins but cant seem to get it right.

Try using a different mic, sometimes that can help. You can also try slapping a desser on the vocal.

Search for Digital Fishphones Spitfish.

It's a free VST plugin that'll work well in Samplitude.

It's also (IMHO) one of the best de-essers around if used judiciously.

In my tests, yes.

Actually I think "Spitfish" is a ridiculously good piece of coding that would be well worth hundreds if the author had been thinking at all towards his pocketbook instead of being completely altruistic. He stopped coding freeware after he was given a job writing code for Magix (who recognized talent from the various free stuff he had been putting out on the net). Like all plugins - be careful in applying it and do lots of a/b's with it bypassed.

One great way of minimizing sibilance from the source is to angle the mic down or up slightly instead of singing into to it head on so that you can get more off-axis sound picked up.

Damn straight. The guy is a genius.

Another great way to deal with de-essing is commonly overlooked...

At the vocalist...

Back in the "good 'ol days" of long hair and amp endorsements, I worked hard to de-ess my vocals at the source. It was strange trying to take something you've done your whole life and change it to almost sound like a speech impedement, but it worked very well.

Hi,
A couple tricks for vocal sibilence:

Always use a pop screen. They're easy enough to find or make. Try taking a pencil and vertically attaching to the center of the screen. Sounds crazy, but I learned this years ago from a very well known engineer and it works!

You are right Joe
A engineer at Air studio did that on a very big artist
But sibilence can be deal with a good noise gate as most of the time sibilence apear at the end of word and some peoples sample it to use it in they reberb Listen to George Michael (Teacher)
