I 'Got the wrong "CPU cooling solution" for my first PC/DAW build.. other than that I am well pleased....I am guilty of purchasing the coolest looking solution I saw in my too-brief search for cooling solutions...and I was fairly foolish I admit ... almost like the time we bought the MGBGT (not really) I will not buy that stupid again till next time ha ... "a Fool and his Money?"..I guess thats me for sure now I am hesitant to purchase a third plastic waterpump from this same source... they don't seem to have "quality" out too far in their motives as I could detect.. but in my new searches I still see the name all over and if not for feeling slighted I might even buy evercool again but I am here to tell all their talk about concern for qc is utter bullcrap and I do mean shit.

Well you said it was ok to complain right?
I told the company in email I would send a link to every new forum I joined and trashed the name Evercool
and as a point of added interest I saw a new instance of the exact same hardware with different name or packaging'wrapper", But its easy to spot mine is the wc-201 evercool watercooler
"Kingwin " is another "name" of merchant seeling cheap-ass cooling solutions that happen to look very cool and work a while b4 the cheapass pump gives out and replacement averages from my experience....@every 900 hours of operation the owner of this rig can expect to need a new waterpump.
in case my flame is very outof place i am done with that part
the rest of my pc/daw I assembled consists of:
asus p4p800d 1Gig crucial ram 3.0mhzPrescott 80gb -7200 audio
2 raptors-audio
fujijujitsu scsi (ultrasuperduperwhatyou call her )36gb system drive
aardvark directpro sound card solution also tascam us224 (backup)
I hope to unite these two soundcards as well as my two pc's when both are up andperational again,or ,eventually,( if it can be done) with reasonable success or purpose.
Used to try raid but wasted out with that.. no big cry..
Garritan VST symphonies instruments(GPO)
AbletonLive
Disk-keeper9
wintasks5
spywareblaster
demo za
demo goldwave
kazaa-crack FL works vst wut ever thats worth will love it sumday
ad-aware hijackthis pestpatrol spybot s&d

I know i forgot somethings
HP original daw and now my backup (consequently much more RELIABLE..thanks evercool)
hope to use my (Oh yeah) matrox 450 for multi monitor someday when I can buy some monitors
also hope to connect 2 pcs using fx teleport or something if any better means is found by then to share vsts and files and stuff

any comments for to help me resolve any of my obvious boggles are appreciated .. the others are for on down the road....or i am just gonna try and take it slow and easy since i got a bag or two of issues to ask for help with,ifIcan ever get that good at making myself understood ,it seems although I never try to overcomplicate, I effectively do ,from my obsession to be understood!(All my sentences have an end!)(my prose is not as I have been told by wise men..."unintelligible"...I wonder if big words ever did their part to end confusion or only make matters worse forever and always? oh well I am not here to rant at all.

I have a ("speech impediment").. in effect...explained with link or I like the explanation here, myself (naturally)
thanks friends

Hmm...

Homemade DAW: The Multi-Core Magnetizer
(also known as the One-Armed Electric Jesus at one time)
ASRock K7VM2 MOBO
Firewire and USB 2.0
AMD Athlon XP 2200
1 Gb DDR (2 512Mb sticks)
80 Gb Software/OS HD
160 Gb Music/Raw Material partitioned drive (in 5 1/4" cooling bay)
SB Audigy Platinum "interface" w/ additional inputs via S/PDIF
Dual 17" CRT's (one on top the other for Reason reasons)
Cheap CD-R/W
Cheap case modded for quiet

I built this PC in the fall of 2003 to keep up with the impossible complexity of my AcidPro songs (IDM). This transition forced me to give up Acid and finally buckle down on some Cubase and Reason action. These in combination with MANY other (secret...shh) music-related programs give me the computer-based tools that, when combined with outboard gear...make my music, well, my music.
Blah, blah....it works.

That's not entirely true, Dos. I just finished reading every post in this thread since I'm in the market for a new DAW and need to research what's available. There's a lot of valuable information here for someone who's looking to upgrade or replace their system.

Hi Dos. Sometimes I feel like there are braggarts on the internet who talk about their gear and their exploits as if we should all drop our jaws. But most people of reasonable intellect recognize them instantly.

Peace and music. Very Happy

Here it is. I just bought a rack-mounted X2i DAW from www.sonicalabs.com:

-64 bit Intel Pentium D 830 Hyperthreading LGA 775 @ 3.2Ghz 2MB cache / 955X / ICH7 chipset
-System bus: 800/1066Mhz
-Dual channel DDR-2-667 1Gb
-Win XP Home "tuned for audio" w/service pack 2
-System drive: 80Gb 7200 SATA2 300Mb/s 8Mb cache
-Audio drives: Dual 160Gb 7200 SATA2 300Mb/s 8Mb cache
-Plextor PX-712SA 12X SATA dual mode/dual layer DVDRW/CDRW
-PATA: 1 x ATA 100 up to 2 devices
-SATA: 4 x SATA2
-System noise level 22dB or lower
-IEEE 1394 Firewire: 3 ports 800/400
-USB 2.0: 8 ports

I had 'em throw in Cubase SX3, too, since I'm still using the old Cubase VST 5.1.
