ok... my studio is almost finished being sheetrocked... my auralex is on its way.. and i'm painting next week. next weekend the gear goes back up (hoooooray!)
the room is a rectangle. slightly longer in one direction.
question: is there any advantage/disadvantage of setting the seating/desk/mixing/monitors aganist the short wall, thus making a "long" studio... or should it go against the long wall, thus making a "wide" studio...?
i'm tempted to make it long.. becuase it gives me more room to move the desk away from the back wall.. thus allowing not only room behind the monitors, but room for me to walk behind the rack.
or... i could set the desk up facing a corner....
? which is best?
thanks! |

taylor,
Long is best (ahem). But...
What are the overall dimensions? If the width is almost = the length, then you could go either way. The decision would largely come down to ergonomics, traffic flow, etc. at that point. |

it's done, and done. the room is definitely longer in one direction.. and that's how i set it up.. it looks and sounds great now! quite happy. it's in our new country home and my studio is quite a bit more spacious than our last condo in the city.. i can even walk behind all my racks ... which is great. |

taylor,
That's excellent. I'm delighted to "hear" everything has worked out well for you! |
