Which cable tester are you guys are using? There are a ton of them to choose from, I was hoping a few people can recommend one of them over the others.
I have a multi meter, but I need something to use in the studio, for real quick checks of cables. (XLR's, TS, TRS, ect, ect.)

I like the Whirlwind tester. However, I did modify and replaced the RCA connectors to BNC and then purchased a couple of BNC to RCA adapters (that would have been a much better way to go on their part). BEWARE, do not twist the XLRs, as they will break off! You cannot replace them with a conventional unit and must order the appropriate replacement from Whirlwind. It's particularly good to make sure that your cables are all in phase.

Whirwind, SwizzArmy...

I hate to say I use the Behringer version (as they tend to disappear often).

As do I. Use the Behringer one, that is. It's got XLR, TRS, RCA, TT and mini and MIDI. It'll show intermittent shorts and has 3 levels of tone generator at 2 frequencies. I don't care WHO hates me for buying Behringer, but at whatever it costs (like $50?) it is shiny, silver happiness.

Will any of the cable testers already mentioned test the following cable...

XLR to 1/4" TRS

I need to have this on the tester as well.

The whirlwind tester has both 1/4" TRS and XLR continuity and connections between both kinds of connectors. Another reason I bought that one. I didn't like the RCA connectors that are also included in some change those to BNC and then stuck on a BNC to RCA adapter. Much handier for checking coaxial cables for video.

Testing, testing, 1 2 3
