Control room monitors/speakers cable question

Hi,

I just bought a pair of active monitors (Event 20/20bas), and I am connecting them to my Yamaha 02R from the control room outs. The Events have balanced ins (either XLR or TRS). I want to get some decent cables and I'm considering a pair of Mogami Gold XLR to 1/4" TRS cables. They have neutrik connectors and I'm not sure what the gauge is, but I assume it's about the standard for mic cables. Would this be a good choice? I have heard that monster cable is the way to go, but I wonder if this choice will be just as good. I'm using these as my main control room monitors for mixing.

This cable will be carrying a relatively large (line level) signal a short distance and have connectors that will rarely be messed with. And its not in the signal path that goes to your final product. Whatever you spend on these, you should spend...I dunno... five times as much on each mic cable. I'm not saying to get bad cables, but can you think of any cables that are less critical than these?

Right, I see your point. But wouldn't the quality of the cables have some bearing on the mix I'm hearing on my monitors? (which has an indirect effect on the signal I print in the end). The cables I am considering are good quality cables (Mogami w/ Neutric connectors), but is that the most important thing? or should I just go for a heavier gauge wire. Just wondering what the best route is without going overboard.

there are lots better places to spend your money IMO...

The mogami are better than the monster cables in my opinion and will do just fine. Anything more would just be a waste of money.
