The mics I regularly use (a combination of mine and my recording buddy):
2 x DPA 4006TL transformerless omnis (stereo kit)
2 x DPA 4015 wide cardioids (stereo kit)
2 x DPA 4023 cardioids (stereo kit)
3 x Schoeps CCM4Lg cardioids (a matched pair and another)
3 x Schoeps CCM8Lg bidirectionals (a matched pair and another)
1 x Royer SF24 active stereo ribbon microphone
We record acoustic music and find the mics listed above to be very good for this application. |

Well...it's an old, but revived thread. I'll kick in for giggles here.
Some of the mics are a friend's but I have ready access to any of them.
Schoeps:
CMC 6 (6 bodies)
MK2s (2 caps)
MK4 (2 caps)
MK 21 (2 caps)
Gefell:
M296 (2)
M930 (2)
Neumann:
TLM 193 (2)
KM184 (2)
TLM 103
AKG:
C391B (2 - both with omni caps)
Soundelux:
U195
Beyer:
M130 (2)
M160
Rode:
K2
NT4
AT:
4040 (2)
Oktava:
MK012
Audix:
M1290 (omni)(2)
SCX-25 (2)
SCX-1 (2)
OM2 - (2)
Shure:
SM57 (3)
SM58 (1)
KSM141 (2)
Here are some mics that are on my short list:
More KSM141s
Earthworks QTC30
1 more full round of Schoeps (a tad expensive, so I'll put this at the bottom of the list)
2 more 193s
MBHO mics (just a few)
many...many...many more.
Of course, the above list is primarily geared towards classical and some jazz.
Cheers -
J. |
