I would recommend not taking such a large jump
into buying a 8 track recorded.
What if you want more.
I would down load this free program that you can
record with and after you get use to it then decide.
I only suggest this because you said you are new.
its called acid express

Let us know how it goes

i need a hardware solution to record at the place we practice, planing on recording every session so that we have an archive of what we have done, as we have been playing for half a year together and need to start recording and gigging soon

so far i heard that the Yamaha AW1600 is ideal , is 600 quid around the price im looking at for this kinda hardware?

Ok CrysAk ;

got ya;

A aw1600 is a really nice recorder for you guys but it may be over kill;
I mean you can get smalled and cheaper. The aw1600 is sweet

But to stay in that area of DAW and down size the Bose 1200
is also very nice
http://www.nextag.com/boss-br-1200-cd/search-html

and to Google multitrack recorder get lots like the
Fostex RD-8 Digital Multitrack Recorder
Zoom MRS8
The Tascam DP-01FX
and lots more

I have heard the quality and durability of the Bose is great
but its kind of a personal thing and I would see what your local store carries.

Good luck and please post a review of your thoughts after a few sessions
with your new gear.

Or a Shuttle-type box.

NCIX has "barebones" systems for as little as $200. That'll get you a machine capable of recording 8 simultaneous tracks. Just add 8-channel input device. Wink
