Anybody have any opinions or experience with these to cut reflections?

http://www.audimutesoundproofing.com...ute-Panel.aspx

obviously they're more expensive than rockwool, (though not too much more, since living in the boonies the way i do i'd have to pay shipping), but if they work as well, i personally would be willing to pay a little extra to not have to deal with the hassle of covering them and what not.

any thoughts?

Thanks.

it looks lik they're using the cotton batts insted of fiberglass so for absorption they seem like a decent choice. however, they're also confusing sound treatments with sound isolation with the usual marketing hype about "sound proofing":

At Audimute, we soundproof home recording studios all the time

• We carry many low cost sound proofing solutions such as acoustic curtains
• We are musicians too – we understand studio soundproofing
• Our low cost sound proofing is always environmentally friendly – we never sound proof studios with fiberglass

just because they're musicians doesn't mean they know anything about sound isolation... I'd compare other cotton batt based absorber products (if you want to avoid fiberglass products) to ensure you're getting the best value from a company that actually has message straight.

Glenn is 100% correct -

they do not have a clue - the truth is that you cannot isolate a room through the use of room treatments........

Don't throw your money away on their products......

Hi guys, thanks for the responses,

yeah, i thought it was pretty weird that they were confusing treatment with proofing, especially if they're supposed to be "experts" Rolling Eyes

anywho, since posting originally, i ordered a similar product and i think it was from the guy posting in that thread that you linked to.... small world, huh?

i'm getting the 4" cotton, to use as bass traps in all my corners. i won't have enough for the "super chunk" method, but plan to straddle the corners from floor to ceiling.

sound like a good plan?

I make these frames for my room treating.

The dimentions are 120x60x15cm
Image

Image

Regular 6mm MDF reinforced with 15x15mm along the edges.
They are VERY light. about 8kilograms when finished. some 10 when i add beauty effects.
Image

I fill them with regular rockwool, or in my case Paroc. Could not find a Paroc picture, but its the same stuff. Very little itchy and scratchy.
Image

I haven't done a acoustic measurement on the yet, cause i usually never do. I use my ears. But i know they work. They are 15cm deep so they take quite a bit, I alternate the distance from the wall to hit different frequencies.

Cheap. Efficient. But labor intensive Very Happy Its no fun to watch glue dry.
