BT: What do you Think ?

Hi everyone,
I need to build 4 Bass traps for my studio. Its a rectangular room (15´ x 12´x 7´6" )(4.5mX3.6mX2.25m) so I gonna put bass traps in the corners. As you see its a small room so I dont want to make big bass traps.
Basically I want to build them with glasswool cutted in triangles of 280mm each and then stack them in a wood structure (see pics)..
I dont want to do it from floor to ceiling so I was thinking to do it with 1M height and I was thinking to put in (or hang them up) on top (covering the tri corner on the ceiling)..
So what do you think ? Do you recomend me to put them on the floor coz its better ?

What do you think about the wood structure ?

That's fine, but you should reconsider not treating the whole corner. It's impossible to make any room perfectly flat and with no ringing. So the more traps you have, the closer to flat you'll get. You need to decide how skewed a response you're willing to accept. Spans of 20 dB? 25 dB? 10 dB?

Likewise, 28 cm is not very wide for a bass trap. The standard face width (US) is 24 inches. Some people even use 36 inches, which is better still. Bass trapping is not a place you want to scrimp.

I am with Ethan, you really should go floor to ceiling and make them no less then 2' across. Can you maybe make something 2' across and put it along walls where the ceiling a walls meet or floor to wall corners? That would work just as well.

Thanks people..

well The problems are three: first is that covering the whole corner (up to down) will loose space that really dont have..
and second is that at 2" from the floor I have a canal cable where the electricity cables comes trough the whole room so its a bit difficult to cover the space there.
And the last one is that in one corner I have a new desk (L kind of) so would loose too much space if I have to move the whole desk to let the bass trap fit on that spot, but in that case I could make up to down bass traps in the other 3 corners maybe..

About the 24" wide, yes thats would be excellent but I think that I would loose too much space with it.. The measurements That I told you guys is like the Lenrd from Auralex is the same wide I think.

I'm sure Rod (and everyone else) will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong, but which is more important; Accurate mixes or storage space?

You can put your traps up on blocking to raise it up high enough to get your cables through the bottom. That's not a problem...

If you are really that desperate for storage, build in some storage space into your corner traps! I'd consider making your traps as wide as possible; 36 inches (91cm) wide and put some shelving unite in that make some decent storage. Be sure to put your mineral wool/insulation behind the storage area/shelves. You will reduce the total efficiency of the trap, but less than you probably would by using a shorter height corner trap.

Additionally, I'd say that it would be a good idea to also put corner traps at the ceiling/wall junction.
