Selteab was the name of the Beatles original US merchandising corporation. Horribly run and one Brian Epstein's worst blunders. (The Beatles originally got 10%.) Definitely bad karma for a band name.

Yeah, but your domain name doesnt have to be www.bandname.com, it can be something cool that describes your band in two or three words like a pop band would be, www.dickless-pussies.com

lol

My personal favorite is "The Big Floppy Donkey T*ts" or, of course "The Big Floppy Donkey D*cks".

I really don't want to disclose this because it's the one name I've been saving and saving for that one great band I was gonna have someday - but alas my best days have come and gone, so I'm giving it up and I'm throwing the name out there for anyone that wants it and is smart enough and got the stones to use it
Drum roll, please . . . . . . . .. .. .. .. .

Sorry 'bout that Boswel - maybe you can call your wind band - "Breaking Wind" - or "Passing Gas"

"Youth in Asia" hasn't been around since the 80s, I always thought that was a GREAT rock name

In the pre-web days (1974), when you couldn't google, I was in a band called FRESH. Not "fresh anything", just FRESH. We thought we were so clever until everytime we went on the road to another state people would say, "Oh, you aren't the FRESH from Little Rock, or Springfield, or Columbus... you get the picture.

This ain't anything new. Truly original, innovative genius is rare. Do what the carmakers do; get a computer program that randomly generates words and hope no one else picked the coolest sounding one like you did.

I'm waiting now for someone to "Oh, are you the THIRD STEP GRACE from Altoona, Atlanta, Alaska, Argentina...?

For the record, all the bad names have been taken too

Laughing

Been playing in a duet as Shortbus for about twelve years now. There's at least five other bands with that name in the U.S. alone so we felt like we had to find a different name for the full band. We finally settled on "1 Brick Shy," but everyone still calls us Shortbus.

Sometimes when I'm playing solo I just call myself "Short."

Literature and art are the two most intelligent yet somehow popular sources for band names.

A band I played and recorded an album with, an indie/alt/experimental rock group was called Step Stevie Step, Step and Stevie being characters from the Orson Scott Card book Lost Boys.

As well, being "The" anything is, in my opinion, cliche and overdone. I think bands just sit around and think of random words, put them together, and throw "The" in the front. Really. It can get ridiculous.

I dunno, I'm a real big fan of "FREE BEER AND PIZZA". Surprisingly, they always seem to get the biggest crowds, but the audience never sticks around for too long, they just get pissed and leave. Dunno why...

Depends on what you play... here's my suggestions:

punk music:
Midget Milkman

Emo music:
anything with Avenue on the end will work...

Indie music:
Hollywood Turndown

Radio-rock:

I always wanted to use the name "The Twelve Inch Rulers". I guess I'd have to come up with something different for the metric countries.

"TBA" or "Special Guest" would be good names...you would have gigs EVERYWHERE.
