Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on how to move my DAW from an old PC to my new iMac running Leopard (2GB intel dual core). My current system is below. MOTU is Leopard-ready with the new drivers downloadable from their site. I'd like to take this opportunity to move to Pro Tools if I can do so for a reasonable cost, say $200. I'd also be fine with staying with Cubase but I'm confused as to how I could do that without spending $500. If that's not possible - recommendations on where to go?

Note that I'm a new Mac user and my recording needs are modest - I'm just doing simple demos for songs I'm writing.

Thanks, David

If you wan't to keep Cubase, it would be a good idea to move to Cubase 4. SL may work with your intel iMac but, you will be going through Rosetta ppc emulation. Cubase 4 is Fully supported on the Intel machines as well as Leopard.

If you want to move to Protools, you'll need to ditch the MOTU. ProTools only works with Digi hardware or M-audio if you want to use M-powered.

This is from Digidesigns site:

"Because Pro Tools software will not function with Leopard at this time, please wait to upgrade your operating system if you’re using Pro Tools on a Mac until we officially announce Leopard support."

So either way you need to spend money.

Until you figure it out, you can just plug in your interface and start using Garageband, which comes with your shiny new mac.

+1 Yeah. Don't knock garageband just cause it's a "toy" It works really well and some of the amp sims and built in effects sound pretty darn good. Not to mention it works well with loops.

If you REALLY want to run Cubase, stay on PC.

Good idea to visit the Cubase.net forum first.

Cool
