Hard to say without a comparison.
What's in the chain currently? |

Well right now im using an M-Audio Nova condenser into a Mbox mini 2 into garageband. Unless my friend leaves his mic, which is an MXL V69 tube condenser. |

Not really, not enough to make you jump up and say "hot damn, listen to what I just did".
The preamp in the Mbox is equal to, if not better than, the ART box.
If you can, you should go to your nearest music shop and try out some different mics on your vox.
Comparison shop, find what fits you best.
Have you tried an SM57 or 58?
Condensers aren't the be-all, end-all when it comes to vox... |

You're welcome!
If you do find that perfect mic that fits your voice / style - please come back and let us know about it!
BTW, lots of famous cats sing through 57's and 58's in the studio - pass it around. |

Oh, one other thing - try taking the mics you already have access to and turning them a little to the left, the right, tilted forward - you don't always get the best results singing directly into the diaphragm. Even if you're using a thousand dollar mic! |

No, surprisingly enough, I was dropped here as a spore.
Being the BeNt number one to arrive on this rock, I think it is totally within my rights to command such titles as "Mr." and "Sir", as well as "Captain" and "His Majesty", to name but a few!

Lord Bent, I'm not sure I can deal with this Major Generalization but as we all know, the Colonel does chicken right. So can I address you as Mr. Chicken Bent?

The ART MP works nice as (replacement) DI for (bass) guitar. I use a simpler version of that one (without the meter) and it works. It is indeed not special, but it's OK. |
