• Play gigs, and get a good demo that you think reflects your potential. Have a bunch of copies ready to give out (or sell) at your shows to anyone who likes your stuff. Be creative.
• Do you know of someone that really likes your music? If you do, ask them if they could help you out. They might know people who want bands/artists to play at there work or house parties. Ask them to take peoples emails down and create an email list for all of your upcoming shows.
• Even if you've got a good manager, they're gonna need to tell a venue that your gonna bring a certain amount of people to your shows in order to get you shows. So getting fans is a HUGE priority.
• (Depending on your type of music) Try and find a coffee house-ish place that likes your music and will give you a couple of gigs a month no matter how many people you can bring. Use it as a launch pad to get your name out there. If someone sees you they can tell their friends "I saw this band/person and they're really good, they play "every" other Fri at... then it's easy for people to make time to come see you.
There's plenty of books out there with more advice so read up!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps. |
