So here's the backstory -

I'm on location for a 2 day gig. It started this morning at 6 am and is running until tomorrow at 6 PM at which point, I get to pack up and QUICKLY make my way to the local college and record their orchestra at 7 PM tomorrow and 7:30 on Saturday... (Thank God for redundant rigs and a helpful intern or two!)

Anyway - there's no way my sanity would be preserved if I had to do all of this for 2 days straight (btw, tonight, I get out of here at 7 PM or so...)

So, I've got my laptop (not the one in the pic - that's my recording laptop) and my cell phone linked so that I can use high-speed internet over the cell lines (at no additional charge per minute!) so I can cruise RO and all of the other wonderful sites I want over the next couple days while running the rig in the background.

Add to that the wonderful abilities of phones to take pictures and upload over high-speed, it's just frigging cool what can be done nowadays!

Here's the pic of what I'll be staring at for the next 48 hours or so:

This is one of the choir festivals that I record each year that BobRogers and a few of us chatted about in the Acoustic Music forum about a month back. Hopefully, there will be no vomit involved this year! (Trust me, find the other post - it's worth it.)

I'll kind of use this as a "Blog" of sorts if anyone cares... Confused

Cheers-
J

Probably not too many pics to come -

It would either be a bunch of the same view or a bunch of pics of teenaged choir girls. (Sorry, you'll have to go to "other" sites for those pics...)

I'm glad to see you are feeding yourself well during these long sessions. Alice did her festival last week. I think she ended up running the crappy CD recorder most of the time. A couple of 14 hour days were good for her. She didn't have an internet connection to keep her occupied. I think she finished Terry Prachet's Men At Arms.

Her symphonic band got hosed and got a 2. They were the first band of the festival and the adjudicators had not been fed yet. Tough. Her concert band got a 1. A make up call according to her, but it might have been a great performance by the second chair horn.

I can't give pics
perhaps during the record I'll get some pics

a tin garage
with some wet deadening on the walls and roof
it's old ... smelly
and the roof in parts is so low I have to duck

I need to make a hole to get an old PA multicore out
a very old multicore
I don't know if any lines still work ... Sad

out along a dirt path to a spare bedroom in the main house
... full of ... MESS
to make a temp control room

yuk

it is walking distance to a surf break
Smile
it may take a lot of willpower to stay focussed on the record

I'm not taking my GOOD mics
