Hello!

I'd like to have some advice on something.

We do have to buy a full HD projector for my studio but i'm stuck in some kind of dilema.
Our distributor wants to sell us that really big and expensive projector which would cost around 10000€ and would mean havin to do some work in the studio structure so it can fit in.
But i was thinking that we don't have to have the perfect picture to do our job, and that a smaller, and less expensive projector could be enough for us.
So it it would cost like 2000 or 3000€ and would fit in the box we already have, and then we'd be able to spend the extra money on other stuff, like stuff that would be more helpfull than havin the perfect image...

What you guys think??
What do you use?

Just so you know, the size of our screen is about 3 meters (base)

Thanks for your kind help.

I would say that you do not need that pricy of a projector for what you are doing.

We use the new Sony VPL-AW15 projectors, we have 3 of them and they work amazing.

They are full HD and can play 1080p. they have 1100 lumens and the contrast ratio is 12,000 to 1. All in all a very nice system and the best part is you can buy them at B&H for $1100.

We have them for doing the audio post as well as one for our Video cutting room and one in the theatre with a 15' wide screen and they look great.

Hope this helped.

thanks for your nice answer...

So that's what i was thinking...
Some good consumer product might be enough for what we need...

Do you think that kind of thing might be good enough:

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

That one in your link seems to be nice as well. 1200 lumens and 15,000 to 1 contrast at about $2500.

The sony is 1100 lumens and 12,000 to 1 contrast for $1100.

both are 1080p so really up too you which you would like, I have had very nice results with the Sony but the other looks nice as well. My question would be is it worth the extra $1000-1500 for 100 extra lumens and 3000 more in contrast.

hope this helps, and good luck with your choice.

so you really think that it wouldn't worth getting the really big one (which is this one: http://www.projectorcentral.com/JVC-DLA-HD10K.htm)???

Thanks. You are more helping than you think.

hmm, well the ones I am running well project up too 1080p at 24-60 frames.

No reason why if your doing audio post you need to put out a huge amount of cash for a projector, but its your call in the end.

No, that's the point. I am looking for a cheaper one, that's why i'm writing here...
This week end i'll be testing the little one i've been telling you about. Hopefully it'll turn up nice but i'm kind of afraid that consumer projectors can not display every kind of signals, 25psf, 24psf, 23,98psf, 50i....
Do you go directly from, let's say HDCam SR to your projector???
I mean, what's your video signal path??
What kind of signal does it display??

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate.

N.

hey guys,
I found the perfect solution.....
I just found out about this thing:
http://www.doremilabs.com/products/HDVI-20.htm

it's amazing, you can send any HD signal in it, and it converts it to a signal that your projector can display.
No delay, and it works at any frame rates....

So, we bought this box, and then we can just keep our old projector...

Thanks for your help guys...
