Silent Wall Clock

I know it was treated as sort of a joke in the "essential studio gear" thread, but does anyone have a link to a wall clock that is truly silent and has numbers that you can read across the room. I have a nice digital that is silent but hard to read at a distance. There are some nice looking wall clocks on Amazon, but I'd like to know if they tick.

I have the same problem. None of the clocks I've seen in the shop is silent enough. I think I'll make a frame (box) of a thick glass and hang it over the clock (sorry for my bad english I hope you know what I mean).

Get 2 of them, have one facing backwards and phase cancel the noise from them.

There are digital clocks that I've seen that project the time up onto the wall/ceiling/drummer's forehead/etc. Silent and big and bright...?

Obvious answer - only if they are tube clocks.

And what is the difference between warm silence and cold, sterile silence.

I found that what seemed to make the clock in my room seem so loud was the hard surface it had behind it.

So to minimize that I covered up a square foot piece of 1/2" styrofoam with cloth my wife had used on another project. Then attached this to the wall and placed the clock on the cloth covered square to stop some of the noise.

And when that didn't work I just took the batteries out! It's 5 o'clock right here<<<<!

Wow! I can't believe there are other people out there who are toiling over this! I've been searching for the silent "analog" clock for years now! It's all due to the mechanism that runs the clock. If it's that little square black box that takes 1 AA battery... it's going to to have that loud tick (open one up and you'll immediately see why). These little boxes are cheap junk and seem to be in all the clocks I can find, but I have seen battery operated clocks that have smooth second hand movement and are totally silent... like the ones in schools. Maybe the trick is to look for one that doesn't take a single AA battery?

Here are some that I found that claim to be silent, but who knows? Our definition of silent isn't just "quiet". Smile
