The second mix is definitely better. It's a great sounding tune. As far as "what you need", I don't think I'm personally nearly qualified to give an answer. I suppose distribution is what you need. |

OK here we go..
Here is what I hear in my headphones =)
Snare = annoying after 3 m in. Trim it back or soften it up.
Guitars = too thin , Beef them up
Bass = soften it upa wee bit.
Compress the mix and give it some AIR. It sounds too CLEAN and CLEAR...
Good song though but some parts are just OUT there and turn my ears off =) |

Yeah, very good song. I like the writing style a lot.
I too agree that the guitars should be thicker and a bit more present. |

I'm going to listen to this at home but for now thru my cheap computer speakers, everything seems to be in mono. The guitars sound too compressed, but well played but seem to muddy. I really need to hear this on a different system to be sure it's not my computer. Good writing!!! |

Anyone else think this needs more Cowbell?
Actually, I'm just listening through cheap earbuds at the moment, but I also like the song.
As far as the guitars go, I wouldn't say they are really "thin" (earbud disclaimer here), but perhaps playing with a little bit of echo/delay on some of the lead parts (especially the end solo) will give a little extra dimension. |

I don't personally think the guitars sound "thin" at all. That's just the way a Strat(?)/Tele(?) sounds. I really like the tone actually. |

Thanks for the input guys, took this off to get professionally mixed, I'll post the results. This was done entirely in digital.I agree it's a little too thin on the guitars and the whole mix lacks some warmth, luckily the guy I sent it to has $60,000 worth of analogue gear, he says that's what it's missing. I hope he knows how to use it |
