I just received my Lexicon Reflex and started to play with it - and I'm in AWE! The reverb sounds much more... "tied up" to the original sound, than any of the software reverbs I've tried, including SIR with PCM impulses and the like. I do not say that it does acoustic spaces correctly - it doesn't, and SIR manages to score higher on the acoustic spaces, IMHO; but as a "filler", "thickener" reverb, for halls or plates, it seems to me the greatest thing since I managed to toy with a PCM91 on a live show.
Considering that this is my first personal outboard FX, and that I've only had it for one day, and the fact that it's an 14 year old unit, and that placebo effect DOES exist... What would you say about my opinion that it is much more "real" (for an unreal sorta reverb... I hope you understand what my drunken mind wants to say here) than software reverbs? Am I just insane, and having to much of a blast on the fact that I've got a HARDWARE reverb (albeit 14 year old, "el-cheapo" reverb) of my own?
Kind regards,
Mihai Toma |

I have to say I have always loved the sound of Lexixon Alex, which is of the same vintage. Its not space creation tool, but its a cool sound effect. Used for an effect it makes me smile. |
