I bought a rode NTK a few weeks ago and just got to use it the other day. I was very excited to start using the mic due to many good things ive heard about it. First off, I was examning the microphone and noticed something inside of it, turned out to be an earplug. I can't imagine how someone could manage that but it appears they have. When I went to use the mic I am getting a very anoying hiss. It's terribly loud when I first turn on the mic and settles down to just loud. Ive tried different plug sources, different preamps, ground lifts, chords, way chords are lying, and even borrowed a friends exact ntk power supply. It IS the mic, anyone ever had this problem because im pretty sure this is not supposed to be happening. |

Where'd you buy it? Return it? Take off the top, take out the earplug (wtf), and try again? |

I would let rode know too, tell them to slap around one of their assemblers. |

The earbud is clearly there to put in your ear so you don't hear the hiss as bad. |

I took out the earplug right away, I fixed it this morning though. A wire was loose so I had it soldered. I know I probably dont have a warranty anymore but I also didn't have the time to send it in. I suppose the only thing I can do now is give a bad ebay rating. Oh well the mic is working fine now> |
