I was just wondering if anyone here has been on any of the Pro Tools learning courses such as 100, 110 etc?

I found out today at college that they are doing the 100 course in june and i'm considering applying for it.

I've been using pro tools LE7 at college for recording but feel that I have very little knowledge on the software so I think taking this course would be a good starting point.

Initially I thought no chance as it costs £210 but I found out the you can get a grant from the ILA for £200 so in reality it will only cost £10 which I think is a bargain.

Anyways, i'm just looking for some info from people that have done any of the courses and if they thought they were worth it.

Cheers.

I thought it was worth it in the sense that I learned Pro Tools a bit deeper than just by reading and watching.

Some of the things they require you to learn to obtain certification make you scratch your head a bit though.

Overall, well worth it.

You can't beat the price. The only possible down side is that it could be a waste of time. However, with PT I've found that if someone good explains things that I already know I usually pick up some little short cut or key stroke that I never knew about or forgot existed.

It's the teacher that will make the difference, not just taking the course. When I took the PT course at Future Media Concepts I had a terrific instructor for 101 through 310; it was an incredible learning experience. The instructor for the 401 course was lame, and I left feeling that I had not learned much at all.

So see if you can get a look at the instructors credentials. But just because s/he has an impressive resume does not mean that s/he will be a great teacher. And try to talk to others who have taken the course and get their opinions as well.

Just my 2 ducats.
