Is this discontinued or was it vapourware? I don't see any info on it at Sebatron.com, but Soundpure.com shows a picture and a sales blurb.

What's the story??

No it hasn’t vaporized.
Yes it is currently being upgraded. Thumbs Up

The VEQC-2000 was built from 1998 to around 2004.
The original blueprints were destroyed in a fire in the lab .... production still continued ,however, but no two units after this were ever the same.

The internal configuraton changed greatly over the years , the early ones being feed-forward compression then later on it was changed over to feed-back…..
Some units were actually issued with a feed-forward/feed-back switch.

Some of the upgrades for the veqc may include sweepable EQ bands ....particularly the lower mid band.
The compression stage will also be expanded to include both Attack and Release parameters. …. and possibly an RMS/Peak switch or ‘knee’ control.
It will re-surface in a very evolved state ,,, but I can’t say whether it will be this side of 2006.

The new comp is coming along very nicely.
We’ve been running critical listening tests on different prototype circuits (Optical,Gilbert Cell/VCA,FET etc. ) and it looks like the FET configuration has the coolest spec and vibe we’re chasing…..
The attack times can be ridiculously short (or otherwise)…different to the optical attack … All gain makeup circuitry is Class A using high voltage transistors....The core gain cell pays homage to the 1176.

The Sebatron compressor will be released after the Cygnus preamp.
Initially the unit may be released paired up with a single Cygnus preamp channel in a single 1U rack.
Following this ,, the two channel compressor version (without pre) will be available...
…then finally followed up by a 2U two channel compressor with quite a few features.....

CYGNUS X-2. XENA . NITROUS.(NO2).

All units will feature discreet Class A solid state audio path running on high internal rails.

At this stage it's looking like late September for the first of the 1U comp models......

Cool

Seb
I know you've been looking at the redesign of the VEQC2000. Have you got any further with it?

Progress has been good in the R and D department.
I have developed a new discrete four band stereo ganged parametric circuit and we're putting it through some paces...
It may form part of the new issue of the classic veqc2000.
Also checking out some new front panel textures and colours.

There are three new Sebatron projects brewing in all with possible
variations on each.
When the timing's right and things look a bit more
concrete I'll elaborate....

Cool
