Hi. I see all sorts of MIDI controllers for PT and Digital Performer but nothing that lets me hit record without using my hand. I'm trying to decide between these two and if there's something that works for that it could clinch it for me. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Sure. Learn how to type with your toes. Just like those thalidomide folks of my generation.

Many controllers have a 1/4" socket that you can plug a foot switch into to control functions that you select.

Or you can go this route http://www.roland.com/products/en/FC-300/ which is probably more control than you need.

Or this route if you are handy with a soldering gun http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/foot/

Best of luck!

I have the x-tempo POK and it is WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

It is so easy to set up that I was able experiment with different ways of doing things and within a day I had solved most of the things that had been really holding me back. Zero stress. It even stays connected all the time without me having to do anything, which was one concern I had before I bought it but it's been a wonder.

i still think it's way overpriced for what it does. x-tempo needs to be more reasonable. $500.? come on!
for those who can afford it, i say go for it.

Hm... I think I'm going to go for the xtemp anyway. I tried a friend's midi board and wasted most of last night on it. Nightmare!!!!!! the specs on the pok look like it will do what I was looking for without the extra steps. plus its wireless. thanks!

Remy, you are a hoot. When I read the topic line, my first mental image was of working the mouse with my toes.

Sorry. I know that's not what was intended.

You could try one of these (much less expensive than prev suggestions).
They can be programmed for the shortcut keys of your choice:
