Really? Cubase was the first reason for the displeasing from the op.

As a multiple choice answer this one lacks sufficient flexibility.

I'm not saying you don't have a point, but my point is...wouldn't it be of better value to explain what it is you are saying when you are saying things like this?

These are three different animals and hardly could be a match made in heaven for the casual user, specifically one who is want of less mouse clicks.

I say a fostex 4 track and move on Smile

And the winner is....Adobe Audition.

Thanks to Slanderer for recommending it. It has a corporate flavor and is apparently designed for grownups, with clean, efficient controls and extremely clear instructions. It does a lot of stuff without bogging either itself or the user down.

And the pitch corrector works quite nicely.

Audacity is still faster and easier for tracking and CD Architect still lets you make better cds (great timing manipulation) but between the two endpoints of the project Audition is IT.

Adobe Audition is fine (although if you want to work with MIDI, not a great choice) for audio recording.

Although I don't understand either your problems with Cubase (arm an audio track, press record, voila audio track recorded) or Sony SF/CDA (like a vintage car, nice to look at but doesn't work).

Soundforge 8 is totally functional with no crashes or problems for me, ditto CD Architect.

Anyway, whatever works for you but really, all it takes is a quick read of the manual or a few posts on the cubase.net forum and you would have been cooking with gas.

I don't know why people think I should be using more complicated or badly thought-out software, but you've got what you like and I've found something that I like.

It has been suggested a few times that I "read the manual". Reading the manual does not make software better. It allows you to understand it, but software that is more effective will still be more effective and software that is less effective will still be less effective.

This topic is, I think, talked out. I have what I need and I'm unplugging. If anyone has an idea that nobody else has had and I really need to know, just send me a message.

Thank you all for your help.
