BRIEF BACKGROUND
I closed my studio here in Miami, and we're in the process of moving the operation north to Daytona.
So I've set up a little studio in the bedroom to get a few things done in the meantime.
I'm starting to see what all the home studio problems are.
Mixing is so much harder. I have no idea what anything sounds like.
So here's what I need to know:
[A] BASS -5 to +5 ( -5= too little bass 0= perfect bass)
[B] MUD FACTOR -5 to +5 ( -5 would be too thin sounding)
[C] HI END -5 to +5 (too dull or too bright)
[D] OVERALL BALANCE - (relationship of the instruments)
[E] OVERALL SOUND QUALITY (Clarity, volume, polish, etc)
In order for me to make sense of your answers I also need to know what you're listening on.
1- Built in computer speakers.
2- External computer speakers.
3- Pro monitors in home studio
4- pro monitors in commercial studio
5- headphones.
Here's the link for evaluation (it's a short version of the song titled 'EVENTS'):

For those that want to hear the full song so as to comment on song writing, production, and performance, go here:

Thanks in advance |

I'd like to first say that I'm unqualified to give any meaning full advice.
That out of the way.
A: -3
B: -3
C: 0
D: 0
E: 0
Missing Bass and a bit thin. I'm listening on HD280's Headphones. |

Thanks for the response.
For the sake of this study, I'll assume that '0' for D and E means that in the reviewers opinion, no change is necessary.
Now if we can get a few more responses, we can start to put together some stats.
Also, I was just thinking that this could be an interesting experiment.
After a number of responses, not only will I get some info, but those that contributed may also see how their listening environment compares with everyone else's. |
