I'm starting my own recording studio but right now I don't have a lot of money. I heard I should not buy a mixer unless it it a really good mixer becuase otherwise it will degrade the sound quality. Is this true? Should I just buy an audio interface? What mixers would you recomend? thanks... |

That's a vague question.
This is a vague answer.
Buy some instruments.
What kind of music do you want to record? |

Any kind of music. I went to a conference on recording and I heard that if I have a home studio it's better not to use a Mixer because it will only degrade the signal. Is this true? They said that only really good mixers don't degrade the audio signal. Is this true? |

Anything will degrade it. Mixers will be more expensive than gear that won't degrade it so much.
A cheap interface with preamps, and a bunch of SM57s is plenty to get going.
IMO mixers are for live shows. |

You dont need a mixer if your setting up a DAW. But keep in mind just because there is no mixer that doesent mean that it will be good. Everything you put the signal through efects the overall sound(Mic, Preamp, Interface, Cables, Computer,ect.....) If you want a good studio there is no subistute for good gear and alot of know how. |
