Good (time of day) to all.

Here is a link to a track I recorded recently.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=859822
The track is called busted because it is.

I had the guitar amp too close to the mic, and buyer beware. It's _loud_.

Anyways, I totally dig the groove we were in and was wondering if anyone may know how to remove some of the energy from the guitar sound.

Yes it's mono.
No I can't play it again. I dunno what I was playing (I'm drumming) and I can't for the life of me find that groove again, is it a style with a name? And especially at the end there were I change up then get busted by my phone ringing.

Also, as far as critique goes. Wtf type of music is this? Feel free to leave rude one liners.

Thanks and enjoy.

Dude, haven't you learned from your last recordings to turn the guitar down? How about changing keys once in a while?

There...was that rude enough for ya?

You guys are just hippie jamming, that's all; nothing new.

"Hippie jammin'" lol. A la Greatful Dead. A blues jam fer sure. You can do it again. All that's going on is you're not counting with the high hat, you're counting in your head and letting loose. If anyone ever told you that blues drumming is easy, they don't know what they're talking about. Listen to Mitch Mitchell or Ginger Baker. Anything but basic. Proof that there's more to drums than snare kick and hihat and that toms are good for more than rolls. Sorry. End of rant.

Edit: I should add Jimmie Fox to that list among so many others.

Sshack, lol, rude but not rude enough. The more I get chomped the more I pay attention.
For one, none of us know what a key actually is. Other than for a lock. I'm going to do some reading.
Oh, and the bassist started playing this year when I showed him you can play three notes in time and it sounds fat. He takes drum lessons too, not bass lessons. Indiana learns fast.

The guitarist doesn't know what a key is, he plays by ear and I'm pretty much tone deaf. Well, no, I can tell when something is out of tune as to how to tune it I ask Bean, the guitarist.

"You guys are just hippie jambing, that's all; nothing new."
Fixed that for you. Razz

Hueseph, thanks dude, I'm searching out those names you dropped. I'm keen as mustard for new rockin' tunes. Smile

Nothing new there. Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Ginger Baker of Cream and Jimmy Fox of The James Gang. Great Blues/Rock drummers from when drummers were musicians and not just time keepers.

I'm just the sound guy. Keys are the thing that remove the locks from the doors to the gear/drum cupboards.

Whatever space you're in it sounds damn better than our chancel does anyway. If that's the sound of an SM57 on the amp, I want one now more than before. The sound is better than my 2 attempts so far.
Listening to non-processed tracks is excellent to find out how something sounds.

If the drums were mic'ed closer it would be an awesome bed to add stuff to, like a crazy synth line and some vocals.

Funny though, I find myself thinking the same about my recordings.... "Needs more drums." And maybe less harsh buzzing.

Oh, for the burn...
Your ringtone is very original.

You say there are drums in there?

"turns up volume knob........"

You could probably place the MIC (1 MIC is it?) facing the kit and pick up enough of the guitar to work. Guitar players are usually to loud anyway. I would know.
