Golly, Pr0gr4m. He's just being expressive in conveying the nature of his problem! Rolling Eyes

Get rid of the people, and do the song again.

Leave them in, and pay them scale as "backup vocalists" for that tune after it sells a few million.

Seriously...(and I assume you are talking about a recording)...if they are there during music and other vocals...it's nearly impossible to nuke them without taking something else out with them. If they are between notes...you may have a chance to do SOME minimizing...but I get this feeling there's not much "between notes" in your song. The longer the banshee screams, the worse it will get.

Good luck,

Kapt.Krunch

If you're talking about a composite stereo recording with everything mixed? You can't get rid of any extraneous screaming. Not possible.

If on the other hand you're talking about an individual track of a vocal, with too much ambient noise? A frequency selective noise gate may really helped the problem? When I say frequency selective I'm indicating that a "side chain" equalizer may be necessary? The equalizer would be set to emphasize vocal frequencies while attenuating other higher & lower frequencies that have nothing to do with the human voice. Then the matter of the threshold has to be set. The threshold is set so that when the singer is singing, the gate is open. When the singer stops, the background noise has to be slightly lower in level. Otherwise, if it's as loud as the vocal signal, it's going to stay put. So like the other poster suggested, you re-cut the vocal if this is a multitrack recording. If not? Know that you are screwed.

Wasn't that simple?
