Chris moved the post and the responces to the Archives for reasons he outlines....
Hold the press! No, it's - back... However the message below still stands..
I fully expect a RO biz forum to emerge where net savvy advice can be offered on an ongoing and fruitful basis!
If you have things to get off your chest about RO that relate to general RO help topics, please post them in the Bar & Grill area, due to the flurry of recent issues I will be checking in there more often.
I am available via Private Message (click PM above)
I solemnly swear to tell the gear, gear & nothing but the gear!

Chris, What the F is is going on here? This here "community" is looking more like "your house" (censorship and all) by the minute. Even the corporate run DUC is waaaay more lenient about deleting topics. Get a grip my friend. |

Should I be worried about all this?

It was deleted 5 min. later.
I think it pissed him off.
In that last post,
Chris said " OK lest go a few rounds", then said that if the posts get too rowdy, he'll delete the thread.
I commented on how posts only get to stay as long as he wasn't offended, and asked if I paid for this sight would this be his policy?
He insisted on using Paypal for payment, so I brought up
www.paypalwarning.com
to show him he was opening himself to very dangerous business practices.
I think I pissed him off, so he deleted the thread.
I challenged him.
He didn't like it.
Hey Chris, was that the case?
Will you delete this thread ,too?
Will you repost the thread you deleted and answer my questions, or do just want to take my money and have me shut up?
What kind of community is this?
Please repost the thread I responded to and respond in kind.
Don't run.
Peace.

Freedom is like health, once it's gone and then you realize it's value (Simon Wiesenthal)
Freedom of speech and press is just as valuable, so in my very humble opinion nothing should be deleted, how rude or offending or whatsoever a post may be, don't ever delete it.
We can agree or disagree about all kinds of things, no big deal.
This is a very special board, where there's no flaming, nice professional people and I sinceraly hope we can keep it like it is, but I'm afraid we all have to do the best we can.

The moderator of each forum & Chris can both edit or delete posts as they see fit.
For example, I sometimes edit posts starting with "Jules do you know (insert audi question)" to read "anyone know (insert question)" simply because I think a more 'inclusive heading' will get more answers..
Also if flame wars get nasty & personal they can be taken care of....
Anyhow it doesnt happen much, and is a regular operating feature of forums like these.
Actualy I DO edit posts a lot! DOUBLE POSTS! |

Julian,
You're doing a great job! You let that "Library Banner" thread go on way past the threshold of personal pain so you must have a great sense of humor.
Even if this becomes a pay site, "Taliban" is a little strong... we'll still need a moderator if only to delete spam from Jarl Sigurd types and control fighting in the halls. |

:w: | Hi all, here is something that was put together by our members a long time ago, a few very respected members suggested we implement it and it works! If you have anything positive to add to it, please feel free to email me.

Hey everyone, give Bigtree a break. He does take the time to run this site, and pay for the costs out of his own pockets.
If you're pissed because he deleted some crap, then go play on the newsgroup.
I'm glad that most of the topics and threads here are relevant and aren't concerning non-music/engineering related bullshit like what goes on in EQ's Craig Anderton's forum. |

Originally posted by Mistral, on the other, now locked thread!! :p :p
I'll give it three months, IF THAT, after the 'Pay to Read' policy goes in effect, and TWO DAYS after his baby is born, before this place closes down!!
Then, when it crashes and burns, are ALL you guys just gonna 'eat' your 'Membership Fees', or is anyone gonna try and get them back, after they've already turned into used Pampers? :p
LOT'S of people have kids, and still run businesses, EVEN MUSICIANS/PRODUCERS/ENGINEERS/WEBSITE OWNERS!!
Is Chris THAT special, that HE should be given a 'break'?
RAP is a newsgroup, so that's like comparing apples and oranges....
MPN is corporate owned, and Massenburg, Nichols, and Anderton get paid WELL, (I'm SURE), and the other Moderators still get some financial rewards for their efforts.
BUT, PSW is privately owned, by a guy THE SAME AGE AS CHRIS, and IT survives on advertising, and STILL pays it's moderators!!
AND, except for Julian and Stephen Paul, ALL the Moderators, on BOTH of those sites, are WAY better than EVEYRY OTHER one on RO.
So, maybe I'll join RO as a 'Paid Member', under a DIFFERENT name, and then sue, and seek criminal prosecution, for RO and Chris, when the site closes without my FULL membership being used up, or the balance of my fee NOT being refunded, JUST to give Chris a lesson in 'Tough Love'!! |
