I'm in the process of mixing a short movie that is being showed on 16mill film. Should I be rolling off the low end at a particular frequency?
Cheers |

Check the program content for frequencies below 50HZ...If none are present other than noise, do it at 18db/Oct. 50HZ. I also limit the high frequncy content with a low pass fileter at 12K...you may be able to go lower. This is where the little 300 dollar T-racks program excells. It is nice for doing film eq...I like it anyway.
Study/look at film eq curves and follow them.
Typically in 16MM I have actuall started the roll off as low as 7K on the top and as high as 60HZ on the bottom...like I say...check the program content...if you need the lows...you can put them in at certain places with t-racks doing real time shifts with the eq. It allows you to practice as well.

I hope this advice helps you! |
