I'll be up to (h)Asheville to help clear the taps A'J just lemme know. The best thing for your health is a combination of soup and whiskey. I play in a band with a guy that only drinks Budweiser and in the 12+ years that I've known him I've seen him eat four times. We were on tour with Moe Tucker and he ate chicken fingers only so he could sit and talk with her over dinner. Last month he was helping me with some house repairs and when offered lunch he repied " No takes up too much room for the Bud and Budweisers never given me e coli". The sick thing is this guy can walk several city blocks on his hands and get upside down from a standing or sitting position without help. Budweiser needs to do a "Jared" campaign with bOB as the star. The other thing I saw bOB eat was "meatcup" in Athens Georgia at the Taco Stand where all the vegetarians eat. Some guy wrote it on the menu as a fuck you to the veggie hippies and it became quite popular with guys like bOB.

Taco Stand ain't just for veggies! Meat's been on the menu since day one. My favorite feature there was the plate of Rice Krispy Treats and the sign that sez "They ain't Mexican but they sure are tasty".I'm an ex-Athens resident now, but when I do go back to visit the folks I do hit the T Stand. --Eric Agner

Sorry folks, it's the change of diet that'll kill ya, not what you're eating. Over the last 1/2 century, my body has learned how to extract every possible nutriant from a Twinkie. Putting a salad in front of me just makes my body say, "What the hell am I supposed to do with this shit?".Fletcher's "the four recording food groups" works for me. And the only time you'll ever see me run is if some fucker is chasing me with a gun. (That's only happened to me once - in my younger days - and she was worth it.) Cool

I think all engineers have lived on the 4 studio foodgroups at some point or another. I am so addicted to caffeine, my blood will not even begin to circulate in the morning, until I've had 2 espresso strength cups of jo. Kind of weird when your pee smells like Frech Roast. Bartender, a double Oban, neat.

Ok, here comes the horror story: I would have been one of those guys who would fall off the bar stool to death...maybe. I was a youth athlete (swimming), 3 to 4 hours a day, Central America record setter and all... then I discovered that playing guitar will give me a lot more time to LIVE (if there are athletes out there you'll know why). Then, I fell in love with it. The music, the lifestyle, the whole idea. Bohemia took over and there I was, waking up with a cigarette in my mouth, triple day in a row hangover and scraping my pockets to know how many beers will I be drinking today. Then, progressively, more and more time in the studio, less physical activity, less gigs and less drinks, thankfully. Finally, full engineering and marriage, gourmet cook (and eater). Result: From 160 to 210 pounds, cholesterol: 326 (9:1 LDL TO HDL Ratio, if you know what it means), blood pressure: 170 over 110, triglycerides: 200 (surprisingly good for a beer can like me). If I hadn't quit smoking 5 years before that, I'll be the dead or at least stroked guy at the bar. Don't look so worried, this doesn't happen to everybody (although it may in the long run), it's mainly genetic disposition (tied to abuses, at least at my age). And Harvey, you're right, those extreme changes didn't help. I noticed this two years ago, bored at a supermarket, tucking my arm on one of those pressure reading machines. It now lies on the bottom of the Atlantic (It was flying East last time I saw it). Needless to say, this isn't a healthy profession. So the moral of the story is: You can turn into a vegetarian, even if you don't like it ("oh, please, no salt. No pork, please. No cheese either, thank you") AAArg! I really hate that, so I don't eat out often (and when I do, I eat what they offer, shut up and diet the next three days). I still love a good beer and enjoy it when I can. The food is pretty good, especially if you resort to tasteful, traditional mediterranean dishes (italian, spanish, greek, etc.) and don't get in the disgusting new agey rabbit-bird-alfalfa diet (God, salad is sooo boring). Drink, eat, enjoy. Try not to overdo anyone too much as, if the system you're testing fails, what will be lost is not as much your audio but your life. Do routine exams from time to time, give your equipment maintenance. By the way, I'm 32. Ok, folks, this was your host for this lovely evening, give a warm booo to dr. Ortiz. And to me, two beers (I detest to wait when there's no service). OK, I'll go get them myself...

Many, many moons ago I was working with a band with a Lesbian drummer. We got to be fairly good friends during the process, and one night after a session went out to "Buzzy's Fabulous Roast Beef" (conveniently located just over the wall of the Charles St. Jail). So we're hanging out at like 3a and run into a couple other people we knew and one of them says to her "I thought you were a vegetarian"...with out missing a beat she says "Thats vagetarian, not vegatarian...I hate eating vegetables, but love eating pussy".I think it was the last time coke ever came out of my nose...

My dietary choices at the moment are Chimay ale (brewed by Belgian monks...get likkered up with God's OK...) Gates Ribs (Kansas City barbeque is the best...period) Marlboros...andhydroponic herbal jazz cigarrettes....oh yeah...analog tape!

Howdy to the bar-Given that the last refuge for smokers seems to be the music industry (is this an IQ test or something?), I wanted to point out something that's prolonged my tobacco smoking career for way too many years.Most of you have probably seen American Spirit smokes around. The ones in the packs have always been less than impressive to me. When they started out 7 or 8 years ago, though, the company only sold loose tobacco for rolling, which I bought some of, along with an amazing little gizmo called a Rizla Automatic Rolling Box.The smokes are great - no headaches, a better buzz altogether. I mean, you'll find holy places here, churches, synagogues, mosques, but one of the major religions here is barbecue. Gates hot barbecue sauce definitely gives yer tongue a woody. Health food? I take Nugent's stand on vegetarianism. Heck, there are so many deer here you can hardly drive without being in fear for your life that you'll hit one and it'll come crashing through your car window and kick you to death (it's happened). If God hadn't meant for man to eat animals, why did he make 'em out of meat?Gimme a 16 oz KC Strip and a twice-baked potato, and a Captain Morgan and Coke.
