hi all,
i've got another tune to for review/critique - but first...
spigots - my VERY subjective opinion for Shut Your Mouth- i liked your tune but I found the vocals were buried occasionally, couldn't quite pick them out. also, I thought they were a little too "smooth" for this song. i thought maybe they could have been a little "grittier" for this tune, or maybe just some more character (although that's only my opinion). i liked the mix of keyboards and guitars - both the sounds chosen and the mix. (what keyboard/s were used on Shut Your Mouth?)
Dokk,
I listened to Big Thing and thought it was good. If that is you singing on Big Thing and Whatever, you have a great range of different 'styles'.
'Whatever' sounds to me like Michael Hutchence while I agree with others that Big Thing sounds a bit like Lenny Kravitz. In general I think some of your songs could really benefit from live drums. Of course this could be impossible if you don't have the space for it. I also found sometimes where I felt the keyboards were a bit overpowering (both in volume and tone). Overall however, I thought it sounded good.
I have a new tune that I think suffers from the same problems that my first post had - the vocals don't sit right and they are too loud. i'm still working on that but I thought I would post it anyway. Let me know what you think about the recording/production/song.
Higher
- neil |
