I haven't heard these monitors, but to be honest, I've never been impressed by a fostex product. I don't know what your budget is, but I would suggest saving up for something better. If you think about it, your monitors (and a properly treated room) are the most important part of your setup. After all, if you can't accurately hear what you are doing, what's the point of all the other stuff? I'd save up for something better than a monitor described as "eminently usable" at best. Just my opinion. Good Luck!

I have heard these. The PM-1 clearly isn´t bad considering the price. ""eminently usable" does in fact make sense. A lot of products within the same price range can be called "eminently un-usable". I haven´t seriously listened to the PM-1 in order to make some kind of comparison with other products though. I am simply saying I have had the chance to hear these in a decent project studio and they didn´t make me puke or something like that. The music that was played was some modern jazz recordings ( pre-master stuff ).
Why don´t you listen to a pair and compare it with something like the Yamaha MSP 5. And then you choose the ones you like best?
At this price you won´t be even close to buying anything stellar. However.. Paul White´s comment.. the ""eminently usable" does make sense. |

Thanks guys.
I had a listen to the Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1 system today and I'm buying them. They are sensational for the money...a really clear, open sound...detail and depth. Sure they are near-nearfields but I only have a smallish room so they will be perfect.
Has anyone else used these or have anything to comment?
Either way, I'm convinced. |
