What a forum! I have been reading for about an hour here & decided to go ahead & post one sample of our new demos. We have 30-60 second samples of all the songs up on our small site so if your interested and like what you hear check it out. I would especially appreciate any input from other musicans on these samples. This sample is really just a teaser for what is to come. I hope that you like it.

Hey guys!
The (30 sec) ideas are good but, for what I could listen from the samples on the website, there is a lot of compression that needs to be corrected. The samples are a little too short to understand where the music will drive after the intro.
Cheers!!

Well, they are so short samples that I don't really know what else to say... |

To be honest it sounds nothing more than a demo from a Yam RS7000 or some other tone generator. do something creative and you will get some real answers. |

hey, i like angry. it sounds like ur using a talk box. i dig it
empty room- i like the solo. it sounds rock-ish, but it had a country feel to it. like keith urban. i liked it. the rhythm guitars sounded a little fuzzy
broken hero- sounds fuzzy again, like ur using too much distortion or u need to pan it more.
smack- i like the bass part, especially that little "solo" fill kinda thing he does.
the recordings could use work. you have a very rock garage-band feel to it. its cool. i really liked the empty room solo, you can tell the guitarist took his time to make up a cool solo for that. |

And I mean the enitre songs not just the samples I took from it. |

Nirv, in truth I don't know where to start. We have some really great songs but in truth all I have to record on is audacity. I plan on recording the entire cd via 4-track and using audacity to edit. Anybody have any other ideas other than going to a studio as in the very rural area I live in is a non option. I have tested it and it works. Now the recordings that you are hearing on the site are all audacity with a quick mix done. I plan to take track by track recordings from the 4-track I have and just use audacity as the wave editor. Like I said I am not recording smart and could use all the help I can get. BTW I am Joey the drummer and songwriter for the tunes. |

Pretty cute for an entry-level try. This sounds like what I was doing when I was 17 and discovered the Eventide instant phaser, when it was new in 1972. I just clobbered some high school bands with it and thought it sounded cool. Years later I realized I was just playing with too many toys and realized the phaser was just an effect and should not be used throughout anything. You will need some more time and practice to become really good. The three seconds of drums at the end sounded almost awesome and I wanted to hear more but there wasn't any. It sounds like you had some real minimalist equipment, which is not to say that you can make good recordings with junk equipment. I did, others have, just remember, it's not what you got but what you do with it.
I feel like a kid again!

Thanks Remy (( think))! I should have put up a different tune because that is just the intro part to that song and that is the only song that we do anything like that on. Yes I do have minimal equipment to be honest, and plan to record everything via 4-track then edit everything with audacity track by track. Some friends of mine did the very same thing on their ep and it rivals some of the studio stuff that I have heard. The best bar-none 4-track drums I have ever heard came off it. As a drummer THAT is what got me so excited combining both analog & digital. |

Well thank you both very much for your kind feedback (has nothing to do with the howling type)!
I was introduced to the site by a technician acquaintance friend by the name of John Klett who is a superb technician. I was home convalescing from lifesaving brain surgery that has brought me back from the brink of death. As I was sitting home recovering and feeling very grateful, I thought it would be a good thing to share some of my flawed knowledge and crazy experiences with others that did not have the mindnumbing 35 years of experience that I have. I also find this site to be an excellent resource for a wonderful exchange of information. Obviously from other forums within you'll see greatly varying opinions and suggestions as audio truly is BLACK MAGIC, VOODOO but in a positive and productive way!
I shall be happy to try and answer any questions and listen to demo projects and give back what I can, from my insight of over 35 years in video and audio and I can assure you all that anything I suggest, I generally have already tried and/or use regularly. No matter how crazy some of my answers may seem.
Crazy lady
