Come one, come all!
I have posted this at a couple of forums as well....
I am certain this topic has been discussed here previously, however, I would like to gain a "general" consensus among acousticians, the acoustically minded, interested and acoustic lay people.
This is information taken from Owens Corning and CertainTeed by way of Bob Gold's acoustical insulation information chart. The data on the chart matches exactly what both companies report as the acoustical coefficients
for their respective products.
My question really is: In YOUR opinion, are these two (2-inch/ unfaced) products acoustically identical in the practical, acoustically applicable sense?
Yes or No?
Thanks for your replies. |

IMO - yes. The differences in numbers are not that great. Couple that with the fact that they were likely measured in different labs and the statistical error allowable and for all practicle purposes, I'd say they're functionally interchangable. |

Joel,
went into detail elsewhere - for here it's just:
For all practical purposes they are the same.

Thanks Bryan. Rod, thanks as well. I have seen your replies and appreciate them. I am posting this question at other acoustics forums as some people stick to one or two.
Cheers gents,

??? Are you being a politician asking the same question over and over until you get the answer you want? This makes no sense.
