Logic Pro or pro tools????

I am interested in getting a macbook pro and I was originally looking to run pro tools 7 le as my primary software but then found out that it is not compatable at the moment. I recently have heard that logic pro runs very well on the new macbooks. Almost everyone I know tells me pro tools is the way to go and the professional standard but lately I have been hearing logic is amazing on the new macbook. Is it a good idea to go with logic or should i wait for a compatable version of pro tools?

you should wait until digital performer is compatable.

depends what you are into, if you need audio only, then probably PT but if you need audio and good midi functions too, then defenitely Logic or DP.
PT is a complete joke when it comes to midi compared to Logic or DP.

what i dislike very much about PT is that you are tight onto there good but overpriced hardware... but that's just my opinion.

I agree with axel, Pro Tools for pure recording and editing.

But if you are more of a composer Logic and DP are better tools.

In my opinion PTLE, doesn't approach the feature set Logic Express, 255 stereo tracks vs 32 for PTLE. About $500 more you get 48 tracks, for $1295 you get features that the $399 Logic Express already has.

Logic Pro is a much more complete app. And a no brainer if you are a keyboard player. It's instruments and plugs are comparable to any 3rd party plug.

With the setup manager, you only have to deal with the dreaded envionment if really want to. It detects your midi and audio hardware and creates a configuration for you.

I currently have Logic Express (will upgrade to Pro this summer) It's totally changed my approach, I haven't fired up my midi hardware in over two years.

In fact I'm about to purchase Redmatica's Autosampler, to automate the process of multisampling my hardware, and making instruments for the EXS24. Then I will sell the hardware, no biggie my primary instrument is guitar.

DP4 is a strong app also, it was my main app for a while, but I fell in love with the Logic synths.

I feel for ya man! I just got off the phone and found out that my interface is indeffenately unuseable with my mackbook & im madder than the snake that found out that he married a garden hose, however, I don't think that you are in as much of a bind. There are lots of recording programs that are "not compattable" with the Intel based processors in Apples... blah blah blah! I was told that Cubase LE was "not compattable" and here I am happy as a clam... IN water. Many of these statements are misconstrued concerning optimum processing speed. The mackbook is fast (and a darn good buy) and theser programs are made for not-as-fast computers, BUT STILLL WORK. I would suggest finding the one that you are most comfortable with and seeing if they have the nessesary drivers or updates onlne to make it work. I feel that Logic Express is the best buy for the mackbook overall, but that is an opinion. So check it out and see if they are "incompatable" or if they dont run at optimum processing speed. When you're giving info like this try to be complete. The $1295 is not only for the software but for an 18 input firewire interface also. Add that to logic express and you're probably in the same ballpark.
