Hey fellas,
Hope this tune gets you feeling good. It's written by The Upper Room. I recorded this cover version last night in about six hours. I'm most interested in getting some feedback to improve the mix - or should I leave it?
This tune goes out to all the ex-girlfriends.... where ever they are.

Oh, and, please leave some suggestions for a good alternate music host as soundclick seems to be looked down upon. Just hi-fi stream the song to listen to it, as downloading requires, I think, registering.
Take care,

Freiburg? Isn't that the name of a song that Leonard Skynyrd did?
I really think the whole thing sounded like fine €uro pop music! I think it's completely appropriate. Changes? I don't think you need to make no stinkin' changes? I do think you need more Dunkle Hefe' Weizen? My favorite! Other than your song.
Too bad all they have over there now is €'s, otherwise, I think you would have made your mark? While people paid theirs to buy yours!
I would love to know more about this poppin' piece of poop? I actually think you should have cleaned up? Financially speaking that is.

All those cries at the concerts: "Play some Freiburg, Skynyrd!"
Thanks for posting, Remy! Not just because it was a glowing compliment. Your energy in the words was most welcome. And all the slight wit. Strangely enough while you were writing your reply I was down at the pub across from a girl drinking Weizen (Helles, though, not Dunkles)
This "poppin' piece of poop" is a cover of a band called "The Upper Room" whose version is nearly exactly the same. It was done in Cubase. I played guitar through Izotope Trash, used Cubase's virtual bass again with Trash, double tracked drums with Cubase's drums and Groove Agent, added a second bass in the choruses with Cubase's Monologue, used Cubase's Embracer for the string synth and a soundfont electric piano in the verses. I "mastered" it with Izotope Ozone. I sang lead and backing and processed them with Voxengo Voxformer. The mic was a 60 €uro sc400 from Thomann here in Germany.
The inspiration came when I heard the song for the first time last week in the pub, where I day-manage. A Turkish girl had left me about a month and a half ago, once her father died and she returned from the funeral convinced our two months together were riddled with error. Without further explanation she ran away and does not want to speak with me, but when the song played I heard the message my heart wanted to shout at her: that we used to be allies, regardless of anything. We had been friends. I think that's why, if I did a good job on this tune, I was able to do it. Because I felt the words slamming into me at absolutely every moment of the recording. I don't know why she has to treat me so horribly. She was once for me, like I was once for her.
If you want other details, let me know. Thanks again for your energetic post.

Vox seem a tad bright
I'd love to hear the vox warmed up a bit, and a tad less verb
Other than that great sounding! |
