Hi everybody,
It-s beeen some times since i posted here, but i did not really need to. But here it goes...
I have been doing some adjustments in my small room i use for production...
It's a 2,5m*4,5m small room i use for making music and when needed record guitars vocals...
the first adjustments i made is moving the computer to another room. When recording, my Rode nt/2a picks-up a lot of vent sounds coming out from the computer.
Anyway, i had to do some heating remodeling in the room, so i had to move. I am not able to be without the computer for more than a day or two so i stayed in the room, but change the placement.
Now i 've read some suggestions here about the best orientation in a control room. If i am not mistaken its best to have as much space behind you. In other words, in my example i should be facing one of the 2,5m wall, so i have the long side of the room behind me.
I moved the placement for 90 degrees.
I have never felt so relaxed and pieceminded while working. Also the creativity has sprung greately. Now i thought its just a change but its been like that for 3 weeks.
I think the trick is that prior i was unrelaxed, my eyesight was very narrowed. 2.5meters is very small.
Now i reall feel liek a can do things.
I guess my main concern now is to somehow arrest the waves coming from the rear wall...
The room acoustics however are far from professional. I have placed panels of rockwool covered in cloth on areas potential to reflection, and i am pretty satisfied. THe acoustics aer decent and i woudl like to stay it that way.
Do you have any suggestion on how i should deal with acoustics now?
I have browsed through the forum and i did not find a similar problem. A lot of guys just sought after the best postion. I have found it, MAzbe not for acoustics but certainly for my personal working progress.
Also a question not so much linked to this one. I have read soem threads and know that a lot of people record vocals in the same room as they control it. Now how is taht a good thing? Even on Mtv i saw a rockumantary of Ashlee Simpson and she war singing almost next to the computer screen. Only small panels between her and the producer.
Any expiriences with that?
Those of you who dont ahve a separate vocal booth, with compelte sound isolation... How do you cope with the leakage, ambient sounds, car passing by, railroad, airplane, firealarm......
THanks for your advice...
